Peppermill Hotel Casino, Reno

The Peppermill Hotel Casino in Nevada is know as much for it’s ambitious and seemingly constant expansion projects as much anything else.  The first casino was developed at site in 1981 but for the previous ten years the business had consisted of a lounge and coffee shop, founded by Bill Paganetti and Nal Carasali.  Tom and Albert Seeno joined the venture in 1979 and a new company was formed – Peppermill Resorts Inc.

In 1983 the casino was expanded and the first hotel was constructed on the site.  Every few years since then, some or other large project has been undertaken to improve and entarge some aspect of the business.  Major upgrades include additions to hotel rooms and capacity, several new restaurants and cafes, a spa and swimming pool area, nightclub and casino expansion.

Much of the development is geared towards the process of changing the entire theme of the resort into a Tuscan one which should be largely complete by 2012.  Like some other properties in Reno, the Peppermill has also made efforts to tap into the geothermal power that occurs in the area.

Enough history then – what can a gambler expect from a visit to the Peppermill?  Slots first and the Peppermill has a selection of hundreds to choose from, not too mention many video poker machines.  The company also prides itself on its high payout percentages.

Table games are hosted on 48 tables and as you would expect there’s a range of traditional games on offer such as Baccarat and Blackjack as well as more modern creations such as Let It Ride.  The Peppermill rightly concentrates on poker as one of the most popular games and one of the latest building developments has been a brand new poker room, complete with 19 luxury tables.  Daily tournaments are hosted in this room.

The loyalty club is called the Passport Players Club and accrues points via gameplay which can earn you hotel rooms, free dining and various other rewards.  High rollers can also look forward to special treatment such as personal attention and tickets to the entertainment offered by the Peppermill.
